Fish Death Theory
A few years ago, the return hose slipped off the main pump and sprayed water everywhere. this happened a few times, with the result of about 5 gallons of water on the floor and the pump running dry in the sump. In order to prevent this, a stainless steel hose clamp was used. it was out of the water and it was coated in silicone for safety. Intending to find a better solution in the near future, the connection was checked occasionally and appeared to be working without corrosion.
A few years later, fish started to die. After the Butterfly passed away, the suspicion of poison was in my head. Upon taking the connection apart, I found that the back side had rusted completely and was dripping rusty water into the tank.
Now "Yellow Stripe" the maroon clownfish is the only survivor. His story in the next episode.
Picture re-posted in sad memory of a tank's downfall....
